DAY 45 - LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA

Group Picture Taken at the Amish Farm
Our Tour Buggy
Means of transport in Amish country
This is Amish Country!   Very interesting seeing people living 'back in time' driving around in horse and buggies - no electricity in their homes - really quite an experience.  We did a tour of an Amish Farm - took a Horse and Buggy ride there and as you can see by the photos - quite interesting.  Little surprised at the condition of the Dairy Farm - not particularly well maintained - however we were very glad we saw it.   The guys 'hung out' while us girls scouted out the Amish Gift Shop and then we partook of an Amish Feast.   They served us with as much food as we wanted - started off with a bean salad (which they called chow chow) cole slaw (which was excellent) - raisin bread with fabulous icing and buns.  Main course was Fried Chicken, Beef, Sausage, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Medley, Chicken Pot Pie  and then finished off with 'Shoo-fly pie" and Apple Crumble with Ice-Cream.  What a FEAST!   Excellent to say the Least!
